Ok here is whats going on. When I purchased the boat didn't get to run it in the water. Found out that the Exhaust manifold/ adapter plate had been frozen and a large crack had been welded.we reinstalled everything ran it in the garage with a water hose thru the flush adapter and everything was fine.
head temps were from 158-162 at 3grand rmp/ no overheating.
Took the lake overheated right away.took back home cleaned all coolant hoses to make sure no blockage, removed thermostats.took back to lake still overheating unless you hook up hose at adapter....
Good water flow at inlet pipe..when hooked up to a hose
In the lake I was getting no water flow at the tee on top of the heads????
1) Do I need thermostats and relief valves for correct water flow?
2) should water come out the exhaust?
3) Does water mix with exhaust in the muffler.
4) Do you think there could be a hidden crack in th plate or manifold

First place to check is the sand filter; if it is dirty, the cooling water will not reach the engine. The water pressure from the drive has a limit of 20 PSI, so any obstruction will prevent water from reaching the engine and it will be diverted at the drive.

The thermostat system needs to be correctly installed to maintain equal pressure to both banks of cylinders. You can rebuild the thermostat system with Sierra Kit 18-3673; it has everything you need for a normal rebuild.

Be sure that the adapter plate gasket is the special one used only on the turbojet - the standard crossflow adapter plate gasket will not work.

The water deflectors in the cylinder heads have to be in place and in good condition.

If it was the wrong gasket
Would the water hose be able to still keep it cool????
The gasket looked correct but????I bought it at Dixie Marine...

You can offset a lot of obstacles on a 50 to 60 PSI public water supply hose.

The parts catalogs for the TurboJet are located at the BRP parts catalog site. You can go there, click the parts tab, navigate to the first window and choose turbojet, choose your year and examine the various parts of the system. http://shop.evinrude.com/

The hose fitting used to flush a turbojet plugs in where the drive splits. There is still a possibility in your case that a blockage may exist in the intake port of the drive behind the impeller. Try backflushing the drive and see if anything comes out.
