I'd like to know if these boats sometimes come out heavy from the factory. I have heard that they dont have a tendency to pick up water because the flotation is put in under pressure, but i think my boat may be heavy. It is a 95 dauntless 17, and hasn't been kept in the water. There doesn't seem to be any way it could have picked up water. The public scales shows it to be 500 to 800 lbs overweight. I'll get more precise on this as I go along, but would like to check with the BW owners out there. I wonder if the fiberglass layups sometimes come out heavy or if they sometimes put in too much foam?

Re: Boston Whaler weight fluxuation

I miscalculated, sorry I boaters, let me recalculate here. This boat is no longer made so those dauntless #s dont apply. I have the specs listed below. hull 1300#, max hp 130, this boat has a 130 hp evinrude

Hull 1300#
engine 478#
trailer ship wt 550#
39 gal fuel tank full 229#
battery and other misc 200#
Total should be 2757

Certified trailer axle wt= 2960 + 200 tounge approx
grand total=3160 +400#

This still sems like too much, but it is a lot better.
