I'm looking to get a good solid paint on the bottom of my used boat. The old owner had antifouling paint which i have already removed. I do not want to reapply that kind of paint sinc ei will not be keeing it in the water. Trailering boat, but using mostly in saltwater. There is a primer now present on top of gel coat. I realize i need to sand that area, but when done should i apply another layer of primer or can i go ahead and apply paint? I've heard countering opinions on the use of primer so anyone with experience for or against would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Bottom paint primer or sanding?

If you sand off the primer you have to reaply it. But you said your not keeping it the water, why do you want to paint it then?
