I bought a 200 HP Powerhead to replace my 150 HP Evinrude. I bought it from a marina and he said that it would fit. There is no heads on it or carbs just the block on down. He said everything from my 150 hp will fit even the carbs though i might need to rejet it. Is all this true? Also what kinda jetting will have to be done?

Shaun,
You best find out if you're gonna need larger jets in those carbs a long time before the engine is broken in or you'll be buying ANOTHER new p/h because of running lean. I'd start off rich before I'd run it lean. Keep your posting close to the top and someone will tell ya what size jets you'll need ta start with.

c/6

Hooty

Shaun, just curious how much were you charged and did you have to surrender your old powerhead?
I might be able to get my hands on a basket case 175 that I am considering re-building.

Bob

i was charged $1500 bucks without the heads, carbs and electrical on the new powerhead. I have never done this so I don't know if that is how it works all the time. I got it from a guy in Long Island called WWW.ANYTHINGMARINE.COM and let me tell ya hes got everything pretty much for Used Evinrudes and some other brands as well. He also gave me three carb plates to take home and try them out on the engine and when i am done rebuilding the rest of the motor just send them back. Also does anyone know if the electrical stuff on my old 150hp will work on the 200 hp? I don't know how much different the motors are. From what it sounds like its just the bore but I could be wrong. Oh yeah, i did give up the block and crank and pistons.
