Ok so with a fully charged battery we are back to square one: the boat starts for about 1 second (and only with the use of starter fluid) and then it dies.

For one thing, the only thing that can of "engine killer" (aka starting fluid) tells you is that you have spark, and not fuel.

He bypassed the oil pressure switch and no different. Pulling my hair out!

That is because that oil pressure swtch is used by Mercruiser carbed engines with an electric fuel pump. Not a Volvo EFI engine.

As soon as you want to stop listening to people that have never even seen a Volvo EFI engine, but would like to take a wild azz guess at your problem, let me know.

Did you do the fuel pressure tests I asked about in my previous reply?

JJ, please take some good advise and listen to what Don S. has to say. He is the man when it comes to volvo stuff, you will save yourself alot of going round in circles. Just curious is the battery you are using the one that was in the boat? If so its time to get a new one charging won't bring it back to serviceable life. Also don't use the either any more it is NOT good for what you are doing especially since the engine has sat SO long, between that and the either washing away any lubricant that might be left you are running it with NO oil on parts that need it. I doubt the oil pump has even picked anything up yet. You would be better off using a bit of premix if you are going to continue to try and get it to run that way. Do the pressure tests if the low pressure pump is bad or clogged too much it will never stay running. Even though you siphoned all the gas out there is still 1/2 to 1 gallon that you will not be able to get to, it will continue to clog things and be a real headache, so be armed with a few filters, you may be able to blow one out with compressed air initially to un clog. Good luck..
