I bought my first boat, it is a 1998 Rinker 182 with 4.3l mercruiser.

The previous owner cracked the engine block, and had the engine replaced this winter with a brand new one.

I inspected the boat per your reccomendations on iboats, thanks for the help guys.

I asked the owner if he had replaced the impellor, and he said no. So that is going to be my first project. It looks fairly straight forword per the manual. I assume that one should buy one of the water pump repair kits from iboats. Any other items I should check or replace while the lower unit is off?

Also what else should I do for preventitive maintenance?

Thanks, Morty

Check the bellows, water hose, gimbal bearing, engine alignment, new gaskets/orings between drive and bellhousing.
