Re: Bowrider with 20 foot storage length

I'll add one more comment...I only use my boat maybe 5-6x during the summer. We take it 'up Nort' to Minnesota for 1 solid week of use, then maybe 4-5 days during the summer we'll take it to a lake we like about 45 miles away.

I think for a lot of folks, they may use theirs a lot more than I do, and then yes, I'd probably worry less about storage and more about what I wanted. So far, though, I've been happy even with a 16ft bowrider I owned...as we typically go out for a couple hours (at most) come back to the dock for lunch, go out tubing, back to the dock.

We use small lakes, so we don't have to pack food, worry about bathrooms, etc, etc.

Re: Bowrider with 20 foot storage length

We did measure the package length prior to buying ours last year and it barely fits in my 24' garage. Although, it's kind of a pain to back it in most of the way then get out to bring the lower unit it (without it hitting the ground), then finish backing it in with the prop between the rear wall studs. With it being a tandem, I prefer to go straight in and straight out. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have bought the boat if it didn't fit in the garage. In the summer when we're using it, I don't have to mess around with any covers so I'll settle for a slightly smaller boat if it's more convenient for storage without paying extra.

Well, my cars are worth more than my boat is, so buying a boat to fit the garage just isn't in the cards. I would rather pay $50/mo to have the boat I want than to have one I didn't really want that fits in the garage. It's the same with my other hobby of aircraft: buy what fits your needs, not what will leave you wanting to trade up a couple of years down the road.

you can put the trailer wheels on dollies and slide it all over the place. Still, easier with single than tandem.

Be careful with this. I bought two dollies for my single axle trailer thinking I'd have an easier time getting it into its winter storage spot. They were rated to easily handle the 4000 lbs of boat and trailer. They instantly crushed under the weight of the boat.
