Hi folks, we have a 19 foot deck boat on Lake Hickory North Carolina.
I have heard that box anchors are very good on this type of Lake.
Recommendations please, especially as to what weight?
Advice?
Thanks in advance!

If the bottom is soft (mud, clay, sand) than a box will hold. If winds change they will dig in at another direction, all good

Cons
Not good with weeds, rock as they get tangled or have nothing to dig into. Can get hung up with stumps
Must get directly over the anchor to pull up.
They do not use chain to hold so need to get one heavy enough to hold your size boat

One of my long time “boating buddies” is a huge fan of box anchors.
He had a 38’ Formula and he boated the Jersey Shore and Chesapeake areas.
BTW, he‘s a very smart engineer, and was the Penske IndyCar team manager until his retirement.
