Brand new 2 strokes for sale

Just had a friend of mine who owns a B&B ask if I would service one of his guest's outboard motors, He brought it over it was a 2 stroke15 hp Mariner, 2013 model he says he has 2 of them, He is from Sweden and crusies around the globe on his 40ft sailboat, I asked where he bought them he stated from Brazil, He said brand New Mariner, as well as Yamaha 2 strokes are readily available throughout Central and south America as well as Mexico. I just found it interesting and thought I'd pass it along, I thought that other than E-tec D.I. type systems that 2 strokers were not even being made, This motor was no different than any other cabureted 2 stroke from days gone by, just brand new. The carb/fuel pump was all gummed up from crappy fuel, It was a treat to work on it, I asked if he would sell it He said nope. Darn...

Doesn't surprise me at all............ why in the world would other parts of the world follow US EPA mandates when it comes to outboards, they do not punish their citizens with higher prices and forced behavior on many other things that the EPA has decided to force Americans to do and sky rocket the price on...........

One example........ CFC's The price per pound of R-22 is way out of control, Why....because the gov banned the manufacture of it with zero concrete evidence that CFC's actually harm anything........So American's either have to pay out the wazoo for a few pounds of R-22 or replace the equipment with ozone safe 410A....... which incidentally still has to be recovered properly

Oh folks that live outside the US can still buy R-22 for less than a quarter of the US price............go figure!

You can find 2 strokes engines of your preferred engine brand in Central & South America, are still preferred over the 4 strokes versions which are also available, ain't that sweet...

Gee, why not join the 21st century, and use fuel efficient, clean running 4 cycle and DFI outboards? Let the third world poison their lakes and rivers. Hopefully our lakes and rivers will get cleaner....

If you don't believe Freon destroys ozone, you either haven't read the research or you believe your personal opinions are more accurate than hard science.

I'm a Professional Chemical Engineer with 43 years experience. My senior Research at the University concentrated in ecology and I promised to maintain ZPG, and I DID! My entire professional career has been centered on working with factories to be sustainable and not pollute the environment. In other words, I have walked the walk, not just talked the talk.

Having said that, I'm happy to run an old fashioned 2-stroke all day long, since in the whole scheme of things my little kicker doesn't amount to a hill of beans...
