Brand new Larson 850 I/O, FittedMerc 3.0 mpi ecsm wps, with Alpha 1.0 drive 2:1,

I have tried this with a black max 21" prop, as supplied, =4300RPM @ 59KPH, not achieving WOT,( 4500-5000 ).
also tried a Vengeance 19" S/Sprop = 4300RPM @ 55 KPH, looks like there might be a rev limiter issue to me,
Same load 4pepes full tank, both times,Local Merc agent has no ideas ( never seen one )

Any Ideas appreciated?

Ayuh,... I've never seen a 3.0l MPI....

It's a brand new 2011 model year boat

Larson has nothing to do with it, it's a Mercruiser problem. It takes a Mercruiser dealer to do warranty work.

Actually they have everything do do with it. First two years Larson covers the warranty claim, last 3 Merc covers the claim ( 5 year Larson warranty). At least that the way it is on my new Larson. Might be different down there but up here new boat dealers are also engine dealers.

The problem is, There is no Larson Dealer here in Thailand, and the mercury dealer is usless, they even turned up commission it without a Torqe wrenh, I had to lend them one?
I think there mus be arev limiter somewhere in the electronics!

Maybe a bad tach, my old boat would only rev around the low 4,000 mark 3800-4100ish even when I changed the prop I could not get 4400-4600, my book says 2007 revs to 4400-4600 wot. But my engine sounded like it was reving good. It appears the tach was wrong when I checked it with another tach. My tach was old, but new does not mean correct.

I hate it when they sell you something that isnt pre delivered properly.
Also, who knows how they determine prop size at testing, maybe only 1 person and 1/2 tank gas in which case it may well reach full wot rpm limits in which case there is nothing wrong with your boat.
Find a Merc 4 blade aluminum prop in 18 pitch and see where your rpms are. Stay oem aluminum so as to keep variables to a minimum. That prop is reasonable and they perform well so you may decide on keeping it. Once you get things sorted out and want a stainless unit you can go from there.
That 19 pitch stainless vesura prop you put on may be the equivalent of an aluminum 21 pitch which is why it never made any difference rpm wise.
Good luck and too bad about your troubles. Larson is really good from my experience about warranty issues.

The 3.0L MPI is a brand new setup and no one here that knows anything about that setup.

Maybe your problem is as simple as the tachometer is damaged and won't go over 4300.

I have a 2010 LX1850, close to what you have, Merc 3.0L MPI,ECSM,WPS, Emission control, outdrive 2.0 ratio. Have a 21 pitch prop and I can hit 4800 rpm easy, actually was going to try a 23 pitch prop. But anyhow seems odd that when you lowered your prop pitch the rpm stayed the same, it should have gone up at wot, however like fossill said maybe the s/s prop acted like the original. Good luck. By the way these motors are so new alot of dealers don't stock parts for them yet, fuel filter separator, full synthetic 20w40 engine oil, etc... My dealer gave me wrong info on engine oil....
