2005 maxum 2400 se. 305. Bravo 3.
In the water:
Boat steers with ease either way at any speed. When cruising, if I let go of the wheel it turns hard starboard.
On the trailer:
If I grab the leg, I can pull it easily to starboard but won't go to port. I can wiggle back and forth and get it to go to port. Feels like a check valve or something is not operating correctly.

This boat and boating is fairly new to me. Pretty mechanically inclined but not the best size for getting to the steering cylinder. There's was an older thread about the exact same problem but never posted about the fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hydraulic or cable?

Also the letting loose and hard turn is prob not associated. It is most likely the trim tab on the stren drive

The B3 is probably the best at keeping straight than to Alpha and B1/B2 but they to can start to turn but normally not a quick hard turn

My guess is your boat has cable to power steering ram.

Is the skeg bent or damaged in any way?

How much play do you have at the helm?

Check the steering ram to insure item C is tight and the slots on item D is straight up and down. Hold item D when tightening C
