Bravo Gear Ratio - 5.7L vs 7.4L

I currently have a 1993 Crownline 250CR with a Bravo 3 attached to a 5.7L Mercruiser. I'm looking at upgrading to a 1995 Sea Ray 270, which has a Bravo 2 attached to a 7.4L.

I would like to swap out the outdrives in order to keep the Bravo 3 on the new boat, however am not sure if the gear ratios will work. Both drives don't have the stickers anymore, so would have to pull the drives to check.

Does anyone know if the gear ratios will work correctly if I swap? Thanks.

Here are the standard ratios

They probably will work but may need to change props depending. May even be the same ratio, might just pull them both and crank them over for countingb22.jpg

Thanks for the info!

I won't be able to pull the drive on the boat for sale, so no way of really knowing unless I buy the boat. How much of a difference would it make? I know my Crownline originally had a B2 w/a 2.20 ratio, but the previous owner upgrade to a B3. I'd have to pull and check exact, but i'm guessing close to the 2.2.

I have a feeling i wouldn't like the 270 Sundancer with only a single Bravo 2, coming off a smaller boat with the B3. However it is a great deal at $15.5k w/trailer, but will need canvas and tires.

The drive should have the ratio stamped on the port side of the drive so you don't need to pull it to find the ratio.

If the ratio is not there, you could do it by cranking over the motor in gear.
Put muffs on to protect the impeller.

Mark the harmonic damper with white grease pencil of something like.
Put shifter in forward
Now with someone out side counting the revolutions of the prop, jump across the two terminals on the slave solenoid.
One counts the damper revs, the other counts the prop revs.

The motor will not start because no power is going to the motor
