I have a Bravo II and it is leaking (very slow) from the shaft that goes from the gimbal ring through the gimbal housing to the steering lever. Looking at the drawings there is an upper and lower swivel bushing and a seal. Can I change the seal without completely dismantling the gimbal?

No.....
But, if you go up to the Adults only sticky at the top of this forum, you can download manual #11 to see how it's done.

Don, I can't believe merc would so poorly design this, it going to cost me $1000.00 to change a $4.00 seal!!!
How do I get your manual #11. I could not find it.

Thanks very much.

Ayuh,...

It's in the Mercruiser Manuals link in the Adults Only sticky at the top of this forum.....

If I'm reading what you wrote,.. Right.... The upper pivot shaft,+ tiller arm,..??
I think you've got something more going on....
I'm guessing you'll be buy more than a $4. seal....

yes, if you look at manual #11 section 4 page 4A-7 I'm sure its the seal (bubble #4) that is leaking, the water comes in right below the tiller arm.

-I think you've got something more going on....What?

-I'm guessing you'll be buy more than a $4. seal.... No kidding, especially if I really have to do all that's in the manual just to get too and change that mickey mouse seal!!!

BAD DESIGN!

Thanks for your help, its much appreciated.
