Well it sounds like your set on the SB and going from SB to SB will be the easy route but as has been stated previously you’re already getting excellent results from your current 350 and bolting in another is not going to get you the 45 mph that you’re looking for. Peak horsepower figures of 330hp from a small block do not compare to similar ratings from BB's. They make power in very different ways and I really think you'll struggle to get the extra 8 mph that you’re looking for from any SBC that fits into your budget. Its likely that you'll spend the 5 g's and have a healthy engine that sounds great with that bigger cam and higher compression but you will likely be disappointed with the 3 - 5 mph that you gain, not to mention the extra fuel she'll be demanding to get there. As for the 4 blade v's 3 I would take your own advice and wait till your re-power is finished and than go shopping for the right prop. Lots of help in that area here when you’re ready for it!

On another note, what type of cooling system are you running, closed or open? The Vortec option you have mentioned will likely require a closed cooling system so you may have to budget that in also.

hudman, have you decided to replace that Bravo 2? My dad just broke his port side Bravo 2 this weekend, and he needs an upper! He'd come to TN from FL if the price was right! :D

I read all the commentary and a 330hp Small Block will likely consume the abount same Fuel, but have way less torque than a 330hp Big block. This in turn means the BB will work a lot less hard to push you around.

also be aware that with that 400 crank you MUST run a 400 flywheel and balancer. make sure the balancer will work with your current drive accesories. for not much more you can get a 7.4 from marine power or an 8.1 or 8.2 that will drop in and bolt up and still have a few years of warrenty anywhere in the states. myself I dont see much speed gain with a 377 or a 383 stroker. you can also buy a 6.2 (sbc) that will drop in.
but if ya really want to play wait a year or two and see if merc releases the chysler V-10 for marine use. that should be fun :) . they are prototyping it and so far its working quite well from what I hear.

They (Fiesta Vee) usually have(depending on year)a very efficient hull design.Still, the b2 is not a speed butt a cruise drive.Nice boat though!Sorry bout the Bayliner insult!
