QC, there is a huge difference between "dress up" and those child beauty contests. It isn't even the way they look that bothers me as much as what the child goes through. For every child that actually wants to do it and enjoys it, there are untold amounts of children that are miserable because Mommy wants them to win. It is just another example of parents who have no idea how to let their children be children instead of mineature adults.
I have a daughter who is 15 this year. When she was a wee lass, I never forced her to do activities that she didn't want to do. That is because I was not forced to do activities that I did not want to do. And no, chores don't count, My arse was a chore doin' muldoon. Anyway, little girls playing with mommy's makeup when she is asleep is what little girls should do, not parade up on a stage, in misery, as their childhood is wasted.
