briggs and Stratton ?

my buddy just got a briggs and strantton 5hp. its great lil motor. its run quite at trolling. loud at full throttle, but so what. i think i want to get one. but my ? is how do they do at 4000 plus elevation? also has anyone had problems with them on other things?

Try a search here the briggs has been discussed a number of times. <br /> As I recall the word from the factory was no trolling.I think probably do to overheating.The other complaint I remember was some parts are suseptable to breakage from careless handling.<br /> If it was me I would take the $600 and look for a real nice 5.5,6,7.5 Evinrude or johnson. Routine parts are readily available back to the 50s.they are smoother,quieter,and surely more powerful.I think many of these motors have adjustable high speed jets so you can fine tune for higher elevations.And properly cared for they are bullet proof.

i dont understand why the exaust of these motors cant be wrapped along the leg and under the water like the old gamefishers. Just take the muffler and bend some pipe. Anyone ever tried this???
