Hi guys. I've got one of these B&S motors and about a month or so ago while starting the motor, the pull cord ripped through the plastic hood. I took it to one of two B&S Master Service Techs in the area and asked him if he could fix it under warranty. He said "Uhhh I guess so, it's the same as a lawn mower right?" After showing him the differences and providing my own stand because his shop has never seen one of these things before, he agreed to work on it. Anyway, the new hood that B&S provided is a little different. It's one piece insead of two and it's quite a bit "Beefier." It's gives the motor a better fit and finish too. However, now my kill switch is not working. It still stops the motor is you pull the red cord off the switch, but pushing the button no longer kills the motor. Mechanic says he did nothing to the switch other than just take it out of the old hood and replace it in the new hood. He said the new hood is thicker and that may be causing it. Does this sound right? Are these switches adjustable in any way? Why would it work by pulling the cord but not by pushing the button? Any ideas? Thanks for your help.
