My kids still do it every summer here's a clip from the Stock Outboard Marathon Championship thats held here locally every summer, it show parts of 2 different classes in the Indian River. My sons are 1st and 2nd in D class #444 and #140

in the competition do you build your own boat? i thought the catamarans were real nice.

The runabout classes go from 15 cu in to 44 cu in and are stock powerheads with racing lower units, 10 to 12' boats they can be built by anyone but must come to the specs. for the class they are raced in. The DUX class boats (inflatable cats) run stock engines in the 2 smaller classes but the X class anything goes I have a freind that races in X and his 70HP Johnson will show 135+ HP on fuel, on a dyno.

poursonally i am not a racing kind of guy. does not mean i do not like to go fast. bit scared of those type of boats.

heck they look dang fun though!
