WOW O:

Incredible story of survival. My guess is that "sweetie" was NOT the exact word he used. LMAO

I'm sorry, but I'm totally on the side of the bear here. Those poor cubs... was there not a zoo they could have gone to?

I read that quote too. I'm not on the side of the bear, but you have to wonder why a zoo plucks these bears for their display, but they couldn't find a place to house these cubs?

The mother was doing what was instinctive to her. The guy did his instinctive reaction. No problems with either of those, but the cubs, I believe could've been saved.

Either way, the guy is one lucky fellow.

I bet the #2 oh s**t moment of his life was when the bear attacked. I'm sure #1 was when that stick broke. The guy is very lucky for sure.

the first whack musta been a good one to stun the bear like that.
momma blacks are really nasty....and a grizzly is just plain terrifing

that is in the province i live in....it is not terribly unuasual to run into one.. depending where you are you dont venture too far in the woods.......its rugged wild terrain here.

even when i am camping at my fave lake......i kinda keep one eye open...and there is allways some kind of weapon handy....be it an oar or cast iron frying pan

(in canada....we dont uasually carry any knid of gun)

so.......if you go out in the woods today....youd better not go alone......

OOPs is right in Canada we dont carry guns unless were hunting or target shooting.

What i got from the news was he got attacked and his dogs came back to save there master. That's when he got up and beat the bear. The cubs had to be destroyed due to thay may have turned out like there mother.
Also what most people don't understand is the zoo,s and wildlife sanctuaries are full. Most bears after rehabilitation are not afraid of people.
I know the cubs lost but what else could we due.

The out come of a bear encounter near where we live wasn't so fortunate for the hunter or the bear. :( Hunting alone is not a good idea.

The recent news on the bear was that it was a sow grizzly with 3 year old cubs. The bear was put down and they are looking for the cubs. I'm not sure how they will deal with them.
