Just brought home a 1975 Starcraft SS 18 ft with a 75 hp 1975 Johnson stinger sitting next a 05 load right trailer. Boat and motor ran good. Needs some tlc but is useable now. First order of business is putting an electric trolling motor in it. Not sure which way to go yet( thrust req, 12 or 24 volt, bod or transom mout, etc..) in sure I'll have lots of questions in the future.

I would go with 12V over 24, more available and chargers are everywhere

I like the price of the 12v models but am wandering if spending the extra money now on a 24v will result in a longer run time which equals longer fun time? Have to try an figure out how big I need to have I guess before making the voltage decision.
We are all pretty excited. My daughter wants to go fishing tomorrow. She happy she can actually get up and move around in it.
I'm thinking about replacing the floors this winter and getting it set up the way I want. I wanted to paint it but the "old school" look is in good shape and kinda growing on me.

Boy if that doesn't bring back some fond memories !! Had the same boat when the kids were growing up, learning to ski and kneeboard, even had the same stinger OB. Mine was the tanish color thruout instead of two-tone. Great boat, mine did 35mph with that stinger and two adults.

Anything I should know or learn about the stinger motor?
