Who's watching tonite? Should be fun since it's a free-for-all. Boys have at it! The Duels are next Thursday, then the 500 Sunday! Interesting to see if Danica gets bounced around like a pinball, or, if she can hold her own. No, I don't want this to be a Danica thread.....:facepalm:

Has anybody noticed that the cars are going down the straightaway pointing away from the turns? I've seen them dog-tailed into the turns, but never away. Can't figure this one out yet.

I haven't a chance to see them run yet. I know the cars are so tweaked to corner that I surprised that they can be driven straight.

Me too ^^^^, the dog tracking/tailing seems backwards to me. I know this is not a handling track, but how is that making them faster?

Danica is a competent racecar driver, but not a star. If she is competitive that is enough for me to be a fan. She doesn't need to beat all the seasoned pros just because she is a woman. She is a rookie, let her be a rookie.

I will probably watch most of it, but I can't miss Doc Martin.

Not so much a chassis/wheel dogtrack, but the body is angled on the chassis.


Left rear hangs over the chassis.
Right rear is tucked in behind the car.
Supposed to keep the spoiler from catching too much air in the turns.

Nascar is measuring and limiting how much they do this., supposedly by measuring from fixed chassis locations and wheel alignment.

Puffed out the C pillars slightly. Possibly an aero advantage. Did not clear inspection. They had to install new ones.

I could hear someone testing at the Talladega track all day today. I live about 10 miles from the track, but there's something about the acoustics of the valley and my quiet neighborhood that allows me to hear the thunder at the track.

Trouble is, NASCAR wont let Danica just be a rookie. There's way too much hype at least starting this season. Even in the pre-show they had a Danica music video and she's the first interview. She's not even in the race tonite...... She will be good for NASCAR at least until when/if the hype goes away....

End of segment 1. We'll see if they stay in a pack for segment 2, or, maybe they'll try and change it up a bit to see if something else works better.....

Staying away from the left side is nothing new. They couldn't do it last year. That's why they hung out on the right side during the 2 car tandem. Go to left and the guy in front goes around.

Sure was a wreck fest. I think the drivers will start caring a little more on how they race when points are involved, a.k.a. the 500.....
