is there a set of plans or photos of a nice, simple wooden stand to put my 185lb, 1975 evinrude, 50hp on? i've got tons of 2 x4's and other miscellaneaous lumber stacked neatly in my side yard.

i suppose i could have put this in the general boating section, but it IS specifically for an evinrude. oh, and it's the kind that has the bolt-to-transom bracket, as opposed to the screw clamps.

Re: build a wood test stand? 50hp 2-stroke?

I built 3 stands last year from the linked plans. I love them, I even shrunk the width on one for my mercury 9.8. ON the one for my 35 h.p. big twin I
put on a nice set of 4 inch caster that I had laying around, rolls as smooth as silk.

I have found that on a really stressful day of work I will come home roll the 9 and 35 out into the drive put both into barrels fire them up, play around and before I know it all of my stress has gone away. My neighbors must think I am nuts, I don't care. That is what works for me. And alot better than crawling into a bottle. Although the vicodin for my knees does do wonders:D:D:D:D:D , actuall being Sunday morning 8:55 A.M., gonna roll them out in an hour and have some therapy time...

it's pretty easy, i built two stands this year and they are both very strong. You may want to consider putting a couple of brackets on either side to add extra support. I had to repair mine because there wasn't enough support there, but then again, I had a 140 horse engine on it, and yours is only 50.

Also, if you're working on it in public, your neighbors may think it's a guillotine, I'm pretty sure mine did :)
