Thought I'd share with you. I found this a few years back, online. I have since, made full size patterns of all the Plans/Frames onto Building Paper. The plans are a bit hard to follow at first but having read over them multiple times in the past year, I have finally got a good grasp on how she'll all go together. I'm confident I can make it happen. I think she'll be a perfect craft for my 10 hp 1956 Evinrude that's waiting to be restored. Now all that's to be determined is...will I ever be able to RETIRE!!!! Anyhoo, I hope some of you will enjoy the plans as much as I have!:joyous:

Cool little boat there Mike!...that can be sweet with the right wood and finish...Im itching myself to build a plywood boat and have my sights set on the GlenL flats flyer to take to florida when I ummm, stop working as much

WOG, why wait until you retire? Lots of folks have hobby projects going on while working. It's what they do to alleviate the mundane daily work. I say go for it now!

Are you building it to true scale or are you going to up scale it a little? Seems to be designed well and with the proper material selections it could be very light as well. Maybe you can use some exotic materials to be solid but light as well... Just a thought! :thumb:

That's WEIRD!!! I have looked at those exact set of plans many times!!! The river that I fished as a kid would lend itself well to that style of boat and so I thought about that boat but never pulled the trigger. I hope you DO!!!!

Funny you should ask. Right now I have WAY to many Irons in the Fire and the Admiral has Threatened me with bodily harm if I take on any more personal projects until I get ALL the HouseHold Projects etc... "ShipShape" soooo, this one WILL be a Retirement Project for sure. As for Modifications to the boat, I will be doing some. I'm leaning towards making her a "Cedar Strip Boat" like the canoes. I think that would be very cool. The design lends itself well to doing this. I would use 1 1/2" strips instead of the traditional 3/4" strips. Accents would be in Maple and Walnut. I will keep her @ 12' but prolly widen her approx 6" to accomodate my big Okie behind. I'm looking forward to the challenge. I'll for sure be documenting the process here on the forum IF, as I say, I ever get to retire. I'm hoping that day is about 3 years away!!!ray:

I'm with you WOG. Told the wife the other day I was thinking about building a kayak to piddle around in the lakes. She said, "You have too many projects!!?" Yep...that's true so maybe when retirement comes around in several years. I believe it would be very cool to build your project or most any wood vessel like that.

Oh wait, in today's economy my retirement is gonna come when the rescue squad comes to scrape me off the floor at work and throw me in the dumpster...:facepalm:

If that's a tinner its gunna take a lot of rivets and foam ...but you could rule the Starmada!

Uhmm, I'm not sure how you're gunna fund a build like that on Retirement Funds unless you win the Lottery!!!! That's why I'm planning on a little wooden 12 footer. I think my funds will allow for that but even that's not for sure. I may have to stand under an over pass with a sign...

Looks like a nice little 12ft'r WOG. I wouldn't mind building one, but I think I'll settle for a 12-14ft tin semi-V boat for now.

Hmm, no, at my current consumption rate of less then 1/2 a 12oz beer every 6months, I will be long gone before I could work solo to generate that many cans.

I'm looking for an already complete 12ft'r for a 10hp OB I already have, w/ a trailer. No loading & unloading from the roof of my Escape.

Thanks Wood for sharing! Brought back some memories from my childhood. My dad found some plans in a Popular Mechanics out of the '50s (maybe even older) and waited until I was 6 or 7 to build it. It might even be the same boat, looks very similar.

He milked cows and had very little spare time, so my grandad and I did most of the work but with Dad's supervision (my grandad wasn't much of a carpenter, he could break a hammer or an anvil with a tissue too).

It was made from marine ply, Linseed Oilled, and painted with Kelly Green oil-base paint and sealed using 4 or 5 coats of varnish. It only had oarlocks so it was very cheap to run and soooo much fun.

I do remember it took forever for paint to dry in 1963!

Around here, we're brainwashed from kindergarden that we need to work hard, save, and retire in Fl....Im the worst kind, im only half moving down there..when its cold lol, but my job is portable, so ill bring my own steam . I just want a little slice of land on Charlotte Harbor.

I cant imagine anyone purposely moving to NJ
