Hi! I have a 20' thermoglass with a sea drive outboard. I want to build a rear lounge seat that I can store my batteries under. Does anyone have any plans? Thanks! (I now it shouldn't be that hard, but I am a lousy carpenter!)
Cool! Thanks for the reply. I had a VW camper that had a seat that would lift for storage underneath, and pull straight out to make a bed. With all the junk on the back of the transom, I need to get at the trim tab pump etc, This boat has been a real love/hate thing, by the way! Couldn't give it away, now I don't want anything else! Thanks!!!
That porch swing is a terrific idea, Im almost to the point of building a rear seat also. I planed to use a 3/4 thick wood panel. Cut it to shape and stain it then apply a solid coat of water seal. The bottom will have a hinge that lifts up to conceal light jackets and other gear you have to have but dont want in the way. To sit on maybe some heavy canvas cushions that tie on and can be removed when the boat isnt being used. The wood look is cool
those are some nice looking seats you got there tashasdaddy, I've seen you post those before, I had thought about that for my boat, or something that will fold down flat over the top of the bench seats that are in it now
I was going to build one for my boat too, but the 46" Wise with plastic frame and storage underneath for 359 shipped from pontoonstuff looks like it will work almost perfect for me. It would cost half that much just in materials and at least a day to make one half as good.
took the back off the swing, cut it down to fit, and it tilts forward to access the stern. the front seats are old bar stools i found on ebay. extremely comfortable, and heavy, 1 inch solid oak.
I used a pair of 36" Wise seats that are actually for a pontoon boat, to replace the rear bench in my 88 Four Winns. They were just about the right width, I just had to trim the shelf in the coming panels a bit, and I was able to get them in the same color pattern as the buckets I repalced a few years before. They look great and the vinyl is good quality. I used threaded inserts in the deck (sealed with 4200) and machine screws to secure the seats, and they are easy to remove to slide em foward when I have to winterize the motor.
