well the snow has melted and the sun is out so i got out to the boat today. i did some more cutting on the rotten wood and have got the composite marked for cutting but before i cut it i need a few more cut off wheels.

Just remember, anything you do towards the finished project IS progress. And that includes thinking about it as well. :thumb:

88, that is a good question. Usually you have a drain hole and that is usually in the very center and lower then other thru-hull fittings. And then depending on boat and how it is setup, you have a bilge pump outlet and maybe a live well inlet and outlet fitting. Usually a bilge pump outlet is higher up on the transom. So it could be a inlet for a live well and an outlet drain for the live well.

I will say your transom looks nicely grinded down now. Good job. How are the stringer that mate up with the transom?

as far as the piece its just screwed on and doesnt have a hose connection. i am replacing the stingers as well because they were rotted just like the transom.

Okay the fun is getting ready to start. :thumb:

Usually 435 Polyester Laminating Resin is what most use. But that is your decision.

88, that resin is really what your hull was made out of initially. So the compatibility issue won't be a problem either. And it will be as solid as you can imagine as well. I do look forward to your progress. I like your boat and interested seeing it run again. :thumb:

88 once you start laminating don't panic when you find the resin still "tacky" in the morning. it is supposed to stay lightly tacky on the surface so that the next layer will stick to it. If you use the "waxed" resin it will have to be sanded between every layer. There are two kinds of bonds. chemical or wet on wet (i.e. laminating resin) or mechanical (sanding between each layer with waxed resin). There are some very good videos on the youtube about fiberglass lay up. I suggest you check them out if you don't have a lot of experience in fiberglass repair. Heck I have been doing it for 30 years and I even learned a couple of tricks!
