Just bought a new 10' jon boat and found a very good used trailer.

Should the boat rest on top of the bunks or so that the bunks are snug on each side?

I took it out for the first time yesterday and when I backed the trailer down the ramp and into the water it stayed on the trailer (w/ my wife :) ) I had to walk down the trailer and shove it off.

I've been bank fishing for so many years and now I finally have a little boat and I want to do everything right. That of course will come with time and experience.

Thanks.

BTW, this is the best forum I've seen to date!

Re: Bunk Trailer Question:

Boat should rest on top of the bunks. Looks like your bunks are too far apart. Move the bunks in so the boat overhangs about 6" or so on each side when on the bunks.

Re: Bunk Trailer Question:

When your getting it all set up don't forget your tongue weight should be about 10% of the total weight of the boat and trailer.
