Need advice on bunk trailers.I have owned roller type trailers in the past .Just getting back into boating and the combo i am looking at has a 19ft grady with a aluminum bunk trailer.I live on the east coast (NJ) and i need help determining if a bunk trailer might work up this way. When unloading/loading how is it accomplished? Thanks in advance for any info

Re: bunk trailers

Loading or unloading a bunk trailer requires floating the boat on or off the trailer. You need to have enough depth at the launch to float your boat. Each launch is different and can vary with the tide.

If you're a trailer boater (like me) that loads and unloads every time you want to use the boat, you may prefer a roller trailer for easier loading and unloading. A roller trailer is also easier to use at shallow launches or when the tide is out since you can push your boat off or winch it on even if there isn't enough water to float your boat.

Some bunk trailer owners install plastic slides to make the trailer easier to use. I've never tried them so I can't tell you how well they work.
