bunks vs rollers

I have a 68 larson it is on a roller trailer now, wondering if bunks would be better for the hull?forgot to mention it's a lapline hull

Bunks support the hull more evenly. That boat is pretty light, so keeping with rollers may not be a big deal.

thanks Ted, i was not sure and i thought bunks were better for the hull, rollers might be easier loading, but it spends most of the time on the trailer, and would like to get another 40 years out of it

i think i will stay with the rollers, does this look ok for setup? there are 8 rollers on each side, none in the middle except at the bow eye. is this good placement? should i add rollers? in the middle? i noticed some trailers have guides on the sides. do i need? any suggestions appreciated.

Everything looks fine to me. Don't worry so much. As long as the hull is sound I wouldn't be concerned about which trailer to have. The side guides are used to help line up and hold the boat in position while loading. Usually when there is either wind or currant at the launch site or the trailer is being used as a drive on.

As for bunks or rollers. That is a highly debated topic everywhere and as far as for me neither side has proven a case as to which if either is a better design. I have owned and have used both. Both have up sides and down sides.

Either can damage a hull if its not set up correctly. If you already got 40 years, don't mess with it. Back in the day marinas knew how to set up trailers - few do today!

Boston Whaler or Maritime Skiff void your gel coat and hull warranty if a roller trailer is used.

i'm sticking with the rollers, my dad told me i'd be better off with them, he also told me to tilt the motor up when trailering, whats the best way to keep from putting stress on the tilt lock

I would also suggest a transom saver for trailering.
