Re: Bush administration lowers gas prices

:) I'm confused
Way before "Katrina," oil prices started to sky rocket, government blames lack of oil refineries, Arabs agree to pump an extra 2 million barrels per day, then Katrina hits, knocks out a couple oil rigs, oil prices go up,setting a record for high cost of a barrel of oil, next "Rita" hits and KO's a refinery in Texas, now you & I worry about oil prices going higher, instead oil prices start to drop, "Exon-Mobil declares a "7 BILLION PROFIT", 2 billion more then last quarter, "I'm still  can someone please explain this to me!!!! ;)

Re: Bush administration lowers gas prices

yep
filled up my Honey's 91 cherokee in Caracas VE the other day, approx 17 gallons of Houston texas finest premium unleaded. about 5 dollars and some change. what a wonderful place that is.
PDVSA seems to have a handle on priceing. seems they can ship the crude to the CITGO refinery in TX,citgo is owned by venezuela, and refine it and ship it back and its still 28 cents a gallon or so at the pump. the regular leaded fuel in VE is about 12 cents a gallon but not much made in the states can burn it. its quality is rather poor at best :) .
but all my buddies are telling me of tankers that cant unlaod, seems oil is plentiful and refined product is not.

Fly rod, the reason oil prices are dropping is cause they were overpriced in the first place.

They were overpriced because idiot commodity traders got scared and drove up the price.

In other words, prices were high before the storms hit, then once they saw the hit wasnt as bad as they thought, they dropped a little.

Over the short term, emotions are driving the price, not actual supply and demand. Supply and demand only regulate prices over the long term.

Ken

Geesh, gas dropped here to $2.54 but the diesel took another jump to $3.30!

I would rather pay the high price of gas than have every thing that is shipped by truck go up. Not gonna be good by Christmas. Plus now Wilma,,,Can you say Willmy price of fuel go up or down?

We've ALL fallen into the "hate Corporations and America trap" fostered by parents of "sixties vintage".

Truth is, the "sixties" crowd have done NOTHING for this country except hate it and stifle its growth.

They've blocked:

1. Nuclear exploration.

2. Oil exploration.

3. Oil refinery development.

4. Alternative fuel developmemt.

I call them, selfish, spoiled, "hypocrites". Thank God I'm on the back side of that generation.

The "Greatest Generation" sacrificed everything for these people, that have NO thankfullness.

Re: Bush administration lowers gas prices

KIZ
actually the VE govt does not subsidize it. the reasopn the premium unleaded is .28 a gallon and not .14 aa gallon like the regular is the premium is refined by CITGO in Houston TX and shipped back.
however PDVSA is not saddled by union gouging and such.
yearsw ago the VE govt decided that all minerals underground belonged to the state. as such you dont see PDVSA making billion dollar windfall profits during VE national disasters such as the caracas quake of 68 or the flooding that killed over 30,000 in 99. the gas price stayed the same. look close at some of the pics of the NO floods.
you will see that gas was in the 1.50 range. 3 days later gas that had been refined and sitting in tanks jumped to over 3.00 per gallon. a clear case of gouging. while I like a free market itrs not free in the petro world. its carefully controlled by a select few.
there fore, like power companies the petrol should be regulated. so no VE does not have a direct subsidy they just dont have the greed factor.

Re: Bush administration lowers gas prices

well I have to retract the subsidy thing. I just got off the phone with a friend that works for PDVSA and sure enough the VE govt uses a portion of the profits from the sales of oil to the outside to supply cheap gas to VE residents :) sounds like a plan to me. seems as the oil is a govt property they have done it this way since forever.

gas is $2.299/gal here. yesterday all the stations in town jacked diesel up to $3.599/gal but lowered them back to 3.199/gal today. My boss called up the owner of the stations we use and told him what he thought about that stunt and I heard he told him we were just going to put our own tanks in and get it off state bid. every time fuel jumps 5 cents it costs us $250,000 more a year.

GW, Did not get us into a war we can not win, it was bad info, GW can not effect oil prices, GW did not do busy with the Bin Laden his oil company failed, it was his DAD, GW ran the Texas Rangers successfully, he owned 3% given to him by the other owners as a favor to his Dad, the President, GW served in military, ok so he did not show up. Radical right GW is your Ted Kennedy and has killed many young Americans because of his self serving and self centered non-caring attitude. He and Ted are couple of drunks whose rich Dads bought them out of trouble and then given them power. Wake up they are no better than each other and much worse for all of us.

Well now, this thread was intended to be a joke on a day I was real bored. When you see such retarded posts as above it really makes one regret injecting a little humor into things. Just goes to show some folks are not to bright.

Lets let this thread die.
