Hey guys, Im thinking of buying a 50 gal diesel tank, with hand crank to store my 2cycle fuel for the outboard.

My questions is do i need to clean the diesel tank before putting in gas? Or just empty and fill?

Also the hand crank has a canister fuel filter, im sure its for diesel fuel, What type of filter should I use for 2cycle fuel? Im afraid that a filter might try to remove the 2cycle oil from the mix.

Thanks, john

As long as it in empty.......... just fill it. Even if there was a quart of diesel still dripping from the sides of the tank....... once mixed with that much pre-mix it will have no effect.

Clean it with a gallon of straight gas and then drain that, old diesel fuel can grow algea if untreated and you don't want that going into your boat motor
