i have a 90 hp mercury outboard and i recently rewired and installed new switch panel and gauges, my old buzzer was rusted and inop. i was out yesterday and for the second time since all work was done, and i noticed that the buzzer was making and on and off sound not a solid or constant sound and engine was running ok it had good water pressure and the temperature seemed ok the wires that go to the buzzer are purple and a solid tan any suggestions and what this could be? i was reading about the buzzer and it said that when it sounds on and off is not a serious problem but i can't see where the wires go into the engine or lead to. thanks for any information.:confused:

Re: buzzer noise

On/Off beeps indicates low oil. Did you check your oil resevoir to see if its full? If it is disconnect the 2 blue wires going to the alarm module and see if the beeping stops. If it does the problem is with the low oil sensor in the oil resevoir. If it continues then the problem is with the alarm module.

Re: buzzer noise

bought manual today and performed test as you decrived and found a bad low oil switch. when the two wires are disconnected the buzzer stops and also checked for continuity on the two wires coming from the switch when it is full and found continuity wich it defines the problem. thanks for all your help and sugestions... a manual is a ;);)very good investment.
