trying to help a guy, on a tiny island, he needs parts, but we need to identify this engine. the numbers we have are 18740 and 25003 off the transom bracket. the welch plug has G2341654. it's an economical depressed place, this guy is trying to better himself, and take care of his family. this boat is his means of income. let's all get him back on the water, making a living.

Re: CALLING ALL HANDS, HELP ID

Edit: Looks like a 1988 model. Same decals as mine. 1990 sounds reasonable Looks like a TX 25".

I also have a 1990 200HP with the forward air vents in the same place on the cowl as the ones in your picture. The serial # on mine is G02512***, so that # that you have is in range.

did some research at Brp, 88,89,90,91 all use the same crankcase and crank. can we use one of these years, parts and service manual. i've never seen the boat and motor so i'm at a loss.

These are big bore 90º loopers. The 1990 service manual will work OK.

The 92 is the same too. There were some changes in ignition part numbers because of the connections. Carb kits, water pump kits, gasket sets, pistons, rods etc were the same from 88 to 92.

BRP should have been able to cross that serial number for you.

thanks to all, i found a service manual on ebay, now to find a parts manual. this way he can tell us what he needs, as the is no internet there. can you imagine. we don't think there is running water. if any one has a used parts manual they would like to donate, it would be appreciated. he can't use a CD.

You can go to www.johnson.com and follow the prompts to find parts diagrams. Then print them out for the guy.

yes, it was bought off craigs list, several years ago, and was shipped down to him. the picture was before it was shipped, from the states.
