Good to hear your trip went well ("uneventful") mz, looks like everyone was having a good time!

Thought I replied back to the bighorn pic earlier...(guess not).... I counted 9, but knew there had to be another one or two I wasn't seeing, those guys blend in so well....

Looks like a good time was had! You stayed in one of the spots below our place. Ours has the wood deck and the boat with the yellow cover with purple stripe.

Looking up at the places above, we were below the one with the Hog or Harley sign and the elevated wooden helm wheel. Didn't see much of the ones beside. I did get into the office to meet the staff, though. (#48)

Well, not necessarily. There is a reason we didn't go far. I will be pulling the port head to install an insert for #1 spark plug. It decided to spit it out 100 yards past the no wake zone on 1st trip out. We still went on, but only "putted".

That thing sounded like the African Queen.

Ugh, I hate mechanical stuff on the lake.

Last trip the starter slave solenoid decided to go out again(it was only 2 years old ), luckily a pair of pliers jumped it,,, and we were headed back to the dock anyway.

Sorry to hear about the engine problems on the trip, that's never fun.

OK, I know the view of the north side well from -8' elevation. I guess that's why I didn't notice the deck. Nice setup!

We spent all of our nights at the camp site beside our friends in our "Camper" then took it out and floated it each day. It was rough sleeping out there without A/C.

..and so we sadly turn another page in Temple Bar history as one of the oldest members of the Trailer Village passed Thursday.

'Coop' as we called him was a WWII vet and a POW. He always has his American Flag flying high during the day, and lit at night. He had been coming to TBar for aver 50 years. We will honor him in Oct with a ceremony. He knew just about everyone there and always had a good story to tell. I'll really miss him.

We salute you, Coop.

Thanks guys. He touched so many lives. He will live on in our memories. So many like myself and my family and friends will never forget him for who he really was. In the end, that's what really matters. I really feel privileged to have known him.

Re: calling all lake mead boaters! nevada

I found a new friend here in the small town that I live in last year. We share the coincidence that we were born in raised in the same state. Elmer is in his 80's and went into the Navy as a young man. He was a mechanic in the Navy and continued as a marine mechanic for the rest of his career.

I was out and about today and wasn't too for from his house/shop. I should have stopped in and said Hi. I'll make a point of seeing him soon. Great man and fun to converse with.

If you boat on Lake Mohave, keep an eye on the water levels for the next couple of months.....
http://www.usbr.gov/newsroom/newsrelease/detail.cfm?RecordID=41024

I always thought they drew down Mohave every year for ramp maintenance and so forth, guess I learned something new.

I was at Willow this week and the lake is dropping fast. They finally cleared up the flood overburden that was buried the south side of the ramp, but it's still pretty nasty on that side of the ramp... I wouldn't launch/retrieve my 18'er there and expect to have the prop leave without a ding in it, shallow and lots of rocks. The north side of the ramp has rocks here and there too with the low water levels, so fair warning to anyone launching with a good sized boat from Willow Beach. Hopefully they get it cleaned up.

Noticed the same -- we fished Friday morning at Willow Beach and noticed there were several rocks in the South launch ramp. It's actually been very depressing this year fishing for trout. Every Friday they stock the river and all 3 times we've been this year (April, July, September) it's sucked. Trout are small and never bite on anything. I've been fishing there since 93' and my Dad since the 70's and it's depressing. I think the only purpose for the trout hatchery is to feed the striper....

How many of you SoCal boaters enjoy this stretch of road as much as I have over the years? This is a fun to drive leg....95 from I-40 near Needles to NV state line. Just makes you want to haul *** no matter what you drive. I've never done it with a boat in tow.
