We are in Omaha, Nebraska. (not exactly a hotbed of nautical activity!)

Anyone either know of a trusted, reliable (& affordable) mechanic in my area or happen to live in the vicinity themselves?

I just want to tell you that you are doing the right (and smart)thing by questioning your mechanics opinion.

I almost got took for thousands by a mechanic a month or so ago. since then I have taken it all on and fixed everything myself. i have an OMC so its harder to find guys that work on them anyways

But keep looking. You will find a good marine mechanic and when you do stick with them and they will be good to you.

I have had the same car mechanic since I was 15. (Im 26) lol. But I have had him this long because he is HONEST.

it might make a difference what kind of a rig ya want serviced.

for my mercruiser i get my parts at premier boating center in lincoln. they seem to know what's happening. they sure seem to have some savy techs. at least the ones i've talked with for tech assistance that i've needed. good of them to let me have access to the techs too. so i give them a thumbs up.. i don't know anyone in omaha, sorry....

so where ya boating at over there? ain't the river closed out of omaha at np dodge and bellvue?

there's always doing it yourself too. this forum can usually answer any questions. that, along with a oem service manual and you'd be on your way to making your own repairs. which is the cheapest way to get your boat fixed...;)
