Hello again

I have the 87 300 V8 that you have helped me with several times. I have a leak in the L side of the engine block where the throttle attaches and cooling hoses attach.
I'm certian this is just a seal that needs replacing, but how difficult is it to replace? The leak is minor but I run in salt water frequently and really want to seal this.

Thanks much.

Is the leak from the control valve or related hoses or in the block itself?

I don't believe it?s the block; it appears to be the valve. (I didn't know there was a valve there.) I'm certain it not the hoses.

The location is a bit intimidating and I did not want to get in there without knowing what to expect.

Thanks.

That's the throttle control water valve. You can actually do away with it and all those hoses. Take a look at a V4 120-140 in 1993. Use that cap & spring. Unscrew the black rubber gasket from the vernatherm assy and use a gasket from the V4. The you can do away with all those hoses. You'll have to plug the hose from the adaptor plate.

That sounds like a good plan. Less is more; as soon as I get back from the fishing trip this weekend I will research the parts and get busy on it.

I would also be willing to bet this part will be a lot less expensive than the V8 component.

Thanks Mr Dhadley!
