Opinions as to what? Are they worth the money? Should they be legal for fishing? Why are you asking? I feel they should be illegal for fishing. Proponents argue that even though you can see the fish, you can't make them bite. While that may be true, it provides anglers with one more advantage. They would also say, OK -- then take away the locators. To which I'd say, great! Those who love to fish will find fish whether or not electronics are used. Why? -- because they understand fish and fishing.

I got an aquaview scout for christmas. I used it while ice fishing and it is a great. It is intersting seeing how fish react to different lures. I even got to see the inside of a Northern Pikes mouth when it attacked the camera. Good thing the camera and cable are made of kevlar. I havent had a chance to use it this season yet. I have tracked a lot of fish on my fish finder and been unable to get any bites. I want to check those areas to see what kind of fish is down there or if I am getting bad returns on my fish finder.

i just got it for entertainment value, not a fishing tool. but it will also be handy for checking hull or prop damage.

Yeah but anybody who really fishes knows that the thing isn't finding fish, even if those stupid red fish outlines pop up, they are best used for depth and to see what kind of structure is on the bottom, and when the bottom is 100 - 200 feet below you, you need it, by seeing that and understanding fish, then you can catch fish. Anybody who drives around until he sees a bunch of fish on the screen, isn't gonna catch any, unless it is a school of bait fish and you wait for what's following them.
