camshaft VolvoPenta454 NO Remplacement ?

Hi, I have a Boat with old engine, but in good conditions, all stock, with small Edelbrock Manifold, and Carburetor 4 Barrel Quadrajet OEM.

I open the engine and have to change the CAM, ( hydraulic), but I do not want the original,because the VOLVO SAID IS EXPIRE THIS PART... I prefer from another Brand, and one model in a small up grade performance from the original.

What Cam I can choice????????

This Boat is for family, but again I want to feel small more performance.

any camhaft with not too much duration will do the job.....consult
comp cam site they have nice marine performance cams .....

is your cam worn out ? rjust want to switch for more ?

Flat tappet cam, right??

ANY stock cam for a big block Chevy from GM will work. GM made only one "marine" cam anyhow. A GM "truck" cam retarded 4 degrees will be just as good.

ALWAYS!! use new or refaced lifters on a new flat tappet cam.

on that cam is a casting number, crane or comp cam or the chevrolet marine guide can find the original GM part number.
you can also use the cam from the 340 horse power mercruiser from about 1986 to about 1993.last I looked merc still stocked it.

Good news...dEAR FRIENDS i CONTACT THE Factory OF crane cams, AND THEY gIVE ME THE SAME iTEM FOR MY ENGINE, IN mARINE GRADE, BEST PERFORMANCE rpm 2000 - 5800, NOT IDLE PROBLEM..i AM HAPPY..PRICE 225 usd

I see someone has purchased Crane and is rebuilding the company. Good luck..Crane used to be top notch stuff!

Those numbers 2000-5000 dont look like a marine cam...Actually a very hot cam...You might want to get the duration specs and lsa and post them...

IMHO buy a comp cams xm256H grind... which will sound perfectly stock, or preferably a comp cams xm262H which would run just great and has a little hotter than stock specs, would make a bit more power with a dual plane aluminum intake, etc... just my experience....
