I need to purchase a ring set and gaskets for a 1956 Johnson 5 1/2 hp CAN ANY STEER ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
as to some places to purchase these items.

iboats probably doesn't sell those. You could try Dan Gano at ganotech.com. He has a lot of OEM stuff going back pretty far. Another good group of people to get involved with is the Antique Outboard Motor Club Incorporated at aomci.org. They have a classifieds page called Webvertise and you can post a wanted ad there.

www.marineengine.com, parts are still available from a lot places. I have about 5 Vintage 5.5's.

In the "Top Secret File" there is a list of salvage yards, give some of those a call, and I bet someone will be able to help you out.
