Can anyone tell me the year of my 3.6hp Merc?

Hi<br /><br />Well, I've gone and got another old Mercury outboard. This one's a 3.6hp, blue band and it's made in Belgium. This motor has no problems with seized parts like my my last Merc project did! The lower unit just slid off, and the drive shaft is still nice and shiny <br /><br />Could anyone tell me the year of this motor please. The serial number is 9285613.<br /><br />Thanks in advance<br />Steve

It's a bit of a tricky one, but it looks like a 80/81 model to me. It's in the same serial group as other nationality 80/81 models too.<br /><br /> Here<br /> Here<br /><br />And here (modellguide)

Do you have a picture ?<br />Does it have light/dark blue bands, red "HP" and silver "Mercury" ? 1980-81
