Re: Can I paint the deck of my boat?
The problem you will have is matching the aged gel color, unless you're ok with a contrasting deck. You can try to get it color matched from a hatch or something from someplace that tints uspaints (Awlgrip) products.
I agree, Awlgrip would be a good choice for endurance if youre going non skid throught the deck. Its not really sandable on the top coat, so if its a patterned non slid, you need to lay the polished sections right.
Since im painting my entire boat, Im going with Delfleet Evolution in the Chem resistant mix over epoxy primer for the bilge and deck, because I can get the exact paint code to match the Concept im using on the hull and cap. The white code is actually from the fleet books anyway. Both are PPG products.
If youre gonna spray it, u can lay a wet coat over a dry coat, then spray the nonskid particles dry, from a gun a lower pressure, to evenly lay the nonskid, then top it again after it flashes. The proper way is to sand down all the old nonskid, then build it back up.
I agree with YD tho, clean it if you can, save aton of bucks and hours.
