can i run my 30 without the thermostat?

i have no water coming out of my johnson 30 and i just replaced the pump. i removed the thermostat and it looks seized up. so can i reinstall the plate without the thermostat to try the engine before buying a new thermostat?

You can, but be sure to replace it. They are there for a reason.

I would just wait and get the t stat. Do you not have a dealer near you?

I would have no problem doing that but purists will disagree. I'd rather run it cool then hot. I would try and put the right one in eventually though.

for testing fine. but get one back into it. it will run cold, effecting combustion temperature, cause carbon build up, and the overall health of the motor.
