Can I temporarily bypass the rectifier?

On my 68' Merc 125hp inline six, I replaced the control box that was damaged when I fried my rectifier (accidentally switched the power cables, knew I should have labled those old things). I haven't recieved my new rectifier in the mail yet, is there a way to safely bypass the rectifier today just to make sure my powerhead will fire up with the new control box?

Sure, Disconnect the yellow leads from the rectifier and tape 'em up so they do not short.

Depends on the failure of the rectifier. It won't hurt to disconnect and tape that wire also.

hope it helps
