Can i use a 115hp on a 4.5m boat?

Hello, i Have a 4.5m fiberglass 1980's boat with a 55hp evinrude on it. ive got a 115hp johnson from a previous boat and i would like to use the 115hp, there isnt a ID plate telling me the max hp. would anyone know if i could or how to find out .Thanks

15 ft boat i think it would be overpowered. what kind of boat is it.

If you run the numbers with 15 feet long and 6 feet wide, the maximum horsepower is 90.

In any case, you may need to deal with insurance or liability considerations.

Is this boat a custom job? I would think there might also be issues with weight and transom strength if you start guessing at what sort of power you should stick on the boat.

Sorry, meant to say that if it's not a custom job and you know the manufacturer's name, you might be able to make the appropriate inquiries.
