Can I Use A Lock Washer On My Ignition Switch

I replaced my old worn out, cracked plastic dashboard with a mahogany dash. When I placed the ignition switch back in its spot, and tighend the nut in the back, its tight, but it seems like the whole switch wants to turn when I turn the key. The hole for the switch it a nice snug fit, If I put a big lock washer, or star washer behind the nut, and up against the wood, would this help hold the switch in place? Or does anyone have a better solution?

The better solution is to put the lockwasher (actually a star washer or external tooth washer as they are also called) behind the panel. That way it won't mark the nice new panel. Use a chrome/stainless flat washer between the nut and the panel.

Don't use a lock washer, use a star washer.
