Can I use red RTV in place of a gasket on the exhasut riser?

I either need to get new gaskets or just use red RTV. I've use this in other places in lieu of gaskets.

Get the gaskets.The riser heats up and gools down and the RTV might work for a bit but the riser core gets HOTTTT and the RTV won't last.J

I agree. The gaskets are made of metal, not sure what type of metal but it works and lasts until you split the exhaust again.

I used the orange hi temp gasket sealer in a bind once and it worked well, ( i live in an area that most dealers dont stock parts they order them/week or 2 turn-around), but I do not recomend this for a perminent application.

NO!!

and think about the fact that if that particular joint fails... you're talking aobut a new engine. I can't understand why anyone would play russian roulette with exhaust manifolds and risers - if you lose the enginre is an anchor... For that joint above all others I would follow the instructions to the letter...
