Can someone help me identify the boat on the left in this picture?

No idea what Merc 90 you're referring to. The 2nd pix is way to small to see anything more then that there is 2 boats in the pix.

If its not running currently, it isnt worth much. To tear it down and sell off used parts from a non running motor could be a lot of work for an unknown amount of money. You probably wont loose money, but not seeing the Merc in person, I wont say you'll make much, or any, either.

Even if you post a better pix, its still not an easy task to value it remotely via the net..

Couple things to keep in mind...if it doesn't have papers someone might show up at your door and take it away and you can't do anything about it. Secondly if the hull has serious internal rotting then it may cost more to dispose it then what it cost you. The motor may have some value if it runs, outboards are not cheap to fix and older models can be difficult to sell used just for that reason. 200 may be a steal if everything is above board and the motor works....but for that price....to good to be true. As stated on here many times..."the most expensive boat you can buy is one that is free" to answer your original question the boat appears to be mabey a skiff craft, or a slick craft from the little I can see.

From that picture the boat could be about anything ... kinda' looks like some Thompson's boats (though they generally had the "clinker" look going), but that style was a dime a dozen in the 60s and 70s (not that it's bad).

It's a used boat ... it's all about CONDITION. Some good readin' HERE.

If the motor doesn't run, and the hull is junk ... he should be paying you to take it.
If the hull is good and the motor doesn't run ... you might give him a little for it (think of it more like a tip for holding the boat in his driveway)
If the hull is amazing and the motor doesn't run ... it's worth a little more than the "tip"
If the motor runs and the hull is junk, it's a little more complicated ... ya' kinda' have to base it on the motor, and what value it has
If the hull is good and the motor runs ... in my area, that's a $700 to $1,500 boat.

Pay close attention to the paperwork part - it can be an amazing pain in the rear to get a boat "legal"

Thanks a lot guys. I'm getting ready to go look at it now, the owner says that the interior is in great shape but I need to see for myself. I think starting it should be pretty easy but the paper work for me is a big problem. Getting a boat legal in Michigan is a pain if the title holder is to lazy to spend the 10 dollars for a lost title. I am more afraid of it actually being in good shape, running, and then not able to get it legal. It looks like a nice boat to cruise the river on.

I couldn't agree more that only you can assess the condition! Last summer I was looking for a used boat and called on one that the owner said was in amazing condition and that people kept telling him how great it was for it's age. When I got there to have a look, EVERY seat had a tear in it. :mad2:

Might handle the title work for the owner if the price is right -- should give you some control, although a replacement title would come to him. I did that in Maryland for a freebie MFG and trailer (trailer registered my MVA in MD, while boat is through DNR -- not real easy.) NY is pretty good, but then that's at a small local office -- like Michigan has spread around, or used to have anyway. (Come to think of it, I had to go back to the trailer owner of one I bought here in NY for a transferable registration. He was cooperative -- could have been worse.)

And thinking back, I transferred a Michigan title on a '54 Trojan to Maryland, and Michigan had shown the wrong hull number somehow. But it got straightened out.

Yeah, best to have the right paperwork up front.

Well, don't I feel sheepish ... That's a Catalina 16v I'll bet. And you're right, 70-72. Look through the literature HERE.

I just got rid of my '72 Comoro. If they're cared for, Silverline is a nice boat. They wanted to make it as a premium manufacturer, but they never really made it there. They made some nice boats, but just really didn't survive as a business. Several of their boats - Comoro, Aruba & Belaire's - were very well designed hulls.

Yep, it sure is, thats what the plate says, "Catalina 16v". It has a 6 cylinder 90 hp Mercury, is that a 50:1 mix? The interior is in very good shape its just dirty. I am pretty sure that the solenoid is bad, the guy thought it was an ignition issue but the solenoid clicks when I turn the key and when I put power directly to the starter it turns over fine. If I resell it, what is a fair price?

Yup, that's exactly the same one I had. Mine was bought brand new in 1971 for $2900. It came with an Evinrude 60 HP 3-cyl Triumph. I upgraded to a 75HP Johnson Stinger in 1978 and sold it in 1984. The pic below was taken in 2011 when the second owner sold it after it had been garage kept for 40 years. He got $1200 for it. Even after all that time it couldn't be told from new. Even the trailer sparkled.

Wish I still had it - best boat I ever owned. If it had been a bowrider, or I hadn't had kids, I WOULD still own it.

I actually really like it, if I can prove to the state of Michigan thst it is worth less than 2500, I will be able to get my own title. FO You Think It's A 71?

As it sits that boat isn't worth $1,000 - dunno' what kinda' proof MI needs, but there's a few thousand forum members that would vouch for that :D

I LOVED my Comoro, and when the opportunity to take my folks Bayliner came along it was actually a hard decision to get rid of the Silverline. A buddy of mine has it now, so I can visit it often :) Heck, I've still got the logo for my avatar!

Clean that one up and make it all pretty and it will be worth ... about what it cost you to clean it up and make it all pretty. Sorry, boats just aren't like cars. You gotta' do it 'cuz ya' like doing it. And Silverline's are good boats to play with.

Curious about that Michigan requirement too. Is that to get a regular title, or something special -- salvage title for an abandoned boat, or something like that(?)
