Hello fellow Forum perusers,
I was wondering if anyone had a good idea of what Make of Jackplate might be compatible with my Merc 225 EFI.
After suffering 3 gearcase failures (1) lubrication prob, (2) hit an island and (3) propshaft gear and Driveshaft gear failure. I am in the market for a jackplate which I can adjust easily.
Last season I had raised my jackplate possibly a bit too high which caused a nice roostertail when the outboard was trimmed up although it did not add much to the top end. It seemed to work well until I was running for 20 minutes or more and in 70ft of water the gear case lost its gears.
Currently I have a fixed jack plate attaching my Merc 225 EFI to the boat. WHen I want to adjust the height of the motor it is difficult as I cannot hoist the motor while it is in the water (as far as I know).
If there is a trick someone knows to adjusting a fixed jackplate please feel free to enlighten me.
