I have a 2000 Yamaha 4 Stroke 9.9hp Outboard, it will not start/idle it will run if i pump the accelerator pump but as soon as I let go it shuts off. I was looking at it tonight and pulled the fuel line to inspect the connection when I noticed on the motor side of the connection it appears it is missing the little pin that normally sticks out the end of it, what is it's purpose, is it neccesary for the engine to run. The only reason I question whether or not it is needed is because on my 90hp Johnson the fuel line connects directly to the fuel pump, it does not have the quick disconnect. so I guess my question is will this quick disconnect have any effect on the motors ability to run properly? like I said it seems to be getting gas because if I hold the rod to above an idle it will run but as soon as I even start to let go of the rod it shuts off. this is very confusing to me by the way the carbs have been rebuilt 2 times in the last 2 weeks by 2 different people with the same results. any help would be greatly appreciated. help help help!
