Is it possible to put a lanyard style kill switch on a 15hp 1956 Evinrude? If so, how? Thanks, Rick

You will have to run a wire to each set of points. Drill a couple of holes in the mag plate and put in rubber grommets for the wires to pass through. Mount the switch wherever is convenient and hook up the wires. It would help if you could get your hands on a newer model 18hp mag plate to see how the kill wires are routed.

So, basically I am opening a switch to the primary side of the coils? Do I run all wires to one switch? I was looking at the Sierra marine switch and am noty sure how many contact pairs it has. Thanks, Rick

You're running a wire to each set of points that shorts the points out.

with 2 breakers you will run a wire from each hot point where the other wires hook up. you will run the 2 wires from the breakers to your lanyard switch. when you connect the 2 wires together it grounds out and your motor shuts off. i recent did this to my 25hp evinrude and love it.

if you had a single breaker you would run it to a switch and run another wire thats grounded to the switch. i think..

make sure the wires are placed good so they wont rub the flywheel. i messed that a little and had to go back in and fix it.
