cannot find serial numbers

I just traded a boat trailor for 100 bucks and a older 60 or 70/s 6hp jphnson. It runs like a top but I cannot find the numbers on it. Anyone know where they are?

Other than of course the transom plate, have you looked for a welch plug, about the size of a quarter near the top rear of the motor?
